After a challenging 2020 that forced the Plaza Classic Film Festival to create new fan experiences like pop-up drive-in movie nights to keep people safe during the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic, this year’s festival will see a near return to normalcy.

That means movie and music fans can once again gather outside with the return of Plaza Outdoor at the 2021 Plaza Classic Film Festival beginning July 30.

On successive Friday and Saturday nights beginning July 30-31 a free movie will be screened alfresco at the Convention Center Plaza (home of Alfresco Fridays). And as has become custom, a performance by one of our many talented local bands will precede each movie.

This year's movie selections include Mamma Mia!, Grease and Zoolander. Of course, all would not be right with the world if the cult classic and El Paso favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show wasn't on the schedule as well. You’ll be happy to know the good doctor and the rest of the ghoulish crew return to the Plaza Classic Film Festival for the 13th straight year, and will, in fact, kick-off the Plaza Outdoor series on Friday, July 30.

The flicks will all start at 9 p.m. with the local musical flavor getting underway at 7:30 p.m. Both the movies and the concerts are free to see. Because the coronavirus is down but not out, mask-wearing and social distancing when possible are strongly encouraged.
