Do the Time Warp Again Saturday at Plaza Classic ‘Rocky Horror’ Showing
You don' t have to be a Sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania to attend, but you're more than welcome to dress as one. The Plaza Classic Film Festival wraps up this weekend, and it would not be complete without an outdoor showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
This year's annual screening of the granddaddy of interactive movies will be Saturday, August 8, at 8:30 p.m. at the El Paso Intl. Airport Hangar 7 Studios. As is customary at any screening of the cult classic, costumes and loud singing isn't just welcomed, it's encouraged. But please do it from the safety of your own car.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show still holds the record for the longest theatrical run, never having been out of some form of limited release since its premiere in 1975. The musical salute to sci-fi, horror, B-movies, and rock music stars Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick, Susan Sarandon and singer Meat Loaf.
Rocky Horror will show first on a double bill with one of its spawn, a glam rock musical titled Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and described as an"unconventional rock musical comedy-drama." Hedwig and the Angry Inch was directed by El Paso-born John Cameron Mithcell who won Best Director for it at the Sundance Film Festival.
