El Paso Planetarium to Host Free Educational Programs in June

If you're looking for something free, fun and educational to do with the kids, take in a show at the Gene Roddenberry Planetarium this month. And -- bonus! -- it's a cheap, entertaining way to beat the June heat.

Monday through Thursday, June 10-20, and Monday through Wednesday, June 24-26, the planetarium will be hosting four free shows (see below) three times a day for families interested in learning about our planet and the solar system.

Thursday, June 27, is reserved for groups such as school field trips, summer camps or day care centers.

Tickets and Seating

Because the programs are free and seating is limited they do tend to sell out days ahead, so it's recommended you consider reserving your seats in advance. Tickets for each show are available online up to one week in advance. You'll find the link to do that HERE.

There will be 20 tickets available at the door prior to each show on a first-come-first-served basis, but they go quick so if that's the route you choose to take you are advised to arrive at least 2 hours before showtime. However, ticket availability at the door is not guaranteed even if you do arrive early.

• Monday - "Perfect Little Planet"
• Tuesday - "Mayan Archaeoastronomy" (in Spanish)
• Wednesday - "Two Small Pieces of Glass"
• Thursday - "Back to the Moon for Good"

Be Considerate

• No food or drinks allowed inside the planetarium
• No electronic devices such as phones allowed during the show
• No entry will be allowed once show is in progress
• The wearing of light up shoes is discouraged as they are bright and distracting
