El Paso Electric has issued a statement after a video surfaced of an employee being captured uttering a racist comment.

A video posted on TikTok by guerrerod777 shows a woman who is on the phone (not sure who with) talking about her new home blurting out racist comments saying:

“…and now my brand new house is ruined because of these scumbag Mexicans”.

The video on TikTok doesn’t quite capture the whole moment and doesn’t include any explanation. Online sleuths quickly were able to figure out that the lady in the video was an employee of El Paso Electric.

After the video was sent to her employer, El Paso Electric's CEO, Kelly A. Tomblin issued the following statement:

“El Paso Electric is aware of the video circulating on social media that includes one of our probationary employees. This person’s behavior and her statements do not reflect EPE’s values and she is no longer employed by EPE. Thank you to our customers for forwarding this information.

- Kelly A. Tomblin, CEO”

While we’re not sure what transpired between the former El Paso Electric employee and her neighbors, some comments on line say that both parties were shouting obscenities at each other.

There are always three sides to every story, but ugly displays of hate are never acceptable. We wish that lady luck, especially since she’s now unemployed and needs to find a way to continue to pay for her “brand new house.”
