El Paso County Celebrates Valentine’s with Love Locks, Courthouse Photo Booth

El Paso County is giving couples a place to symbolize their love in February with a “locks of love” display along the lake shore of Ascarate Park.

Love Lock

For the uninitiated, a 'love lock' is a padlock which couples typically write their names or initials on and then latch to a fence or similar public fixture to symbolize their commitment to one another.

Although tradition calls for throwing the key into a nearby body of water, the county prefers the more environmentally conscious gesture of either putting the key in your pocket or disposing it in the designated area.

Love Is in the Air All Month

El Paso County Parks & Recreation is celebrating sweethearts and love throughout the month. Along with the opportunity to publicly lock down your bae, February activities include a Heart Hunt at the park and a Love Is in the Air Photo Booth inside the County Courthouse.

Valentines Trail Heart Hunt - February 6-14 at Ascarate Park

Park visitors can take a stroll along the trail at Ascarate Lake and find loving, kind messages written throughout the park.
