Alamo will be paying homage to the Queen with sing-a-longs, quote-a-longs, hip shakes and a lot of bidi bidi bom bom as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie “Selena” with a Selena Movie Party on Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10.

And yes, it’s been twenty-five years. “Selena” was released in March of 1997. Show of hands; who just read that and now feels really old? (*Cries in Spanish.)

Join us as we celebrate the life and music of one of America’s most beloved icons, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. Sure, we could just sit quietly and watch the magnificent 1997 film SELENA, but we think the best way to honor Selena is to share in the joy of her music.

If you've ever wanted to completely lose yourself in a classic movie you not only love but love, this series is for you. At an Alamo Drafthouse Movie Party, you can cheer, holler and hiss, shout out your favorite lines, and even sing along at the top of your lungs and no one will care because everyone in the theater is a fellow stan.

And props are involved, too. At the Selena Movie Party screenings of the now-classic film that made Jennifer Lopez a household name, for example, will include sing-a-longs and themed props for attendees to use during the film.

But the Alamo East screening will have a little more Bidi Bidi Bom Bom to it.

Festivities on Saturday, April 9, will include Selena Karaoke, a "Selena-inspired" art market spotlighting local vendors, and a what I'm sure will be a sparkly bustier and purple wide-legged jumpsuit filled look-alike contest. Check out the event post for details.
