What an awesome way to honor a Borderland legend!

The Del Valle High School marching band paid tribute to one of Mexico’s leading singer/songwriters, the late Juan Gabriel, during its halftime show this past Friday (Sep. 23).

Joined on the field by the Camino Real and Valley View middle school bands, the award winning marching band and its feeder schools band mates collectively played three of Juan Gabriel's biggest hits, "Amor Eterno," "Hasta Que Te Conoci," and "El Noa Noa."

Check out the impressive homage below.

The beloved Gabriel died of a massive heart attack on Sunday, August 28, at his home in Los Angeles while getting ready to go to the airport to fly here to El Paso for a scheduled show at the Don Haskins Center later that evening.

He was 66.
