The poppies in Northeast El Paso are poppin' which means the annual Poppies Fest is right around the corner.

The 13th Annual Poppies Festival, set for Saturday, March 23, is a springtime celebration of the Mexican poppies that blanket Castner Range this time of the year in a blaze of yellow.

There is no better time and place to see the picturesque landscape than at the yearly festival. And if the photos I've been seeing on social media are any indication, this year's crop just might be the best bloom in quite a few years.

The free family-friendly event will take place at the El Paso Museum of Archaeology on Transmountain Road.

Although specific activities haven’t been announced, it typically consists of live music, art vendors, educational exhibits, nature tours, and food trucks. I’ll have more details as the event gets closer, but for now save the date.
