Congresswoman Veronica Escobar has issued a statement calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

After a violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, many Democratic leaders are now calling for President Donald Trump's immediate impeachment.

As protesters broke through barriers, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar took to Twitter sharing a video of everyone running to take shelter.

While the protest and breach of the U.S. Capitol did interrupt the certification of President-Elect Joe Biden, it did not prevent it.

Yesterday, Escobar’s office issued a statement joining many other Democrats calling out for the impeachment of the current president, saying she had joined two resolutions to impeach the current for high crimes and misdemeanors:

“Donald J. Trump is a threat to our democracy and national security. He was unfit to serve as president on day one and remains unfit to serve as president today. After yesterday’s failed coup attempt, it is clear that our fragile democracy cannot afford more pain and destruction. Congress must impeach him again, remove him from office immediately, and bar him from holding office ever again.”

Members of Trump’s cabinet also discussed invoking the 25th Amendment of the Constitution late last night.

Hang tight, season 5 of our nation’s reality soap opera continues, as the latest drama keeps unfolding in Washington D.C.
