You know how you wait until spring to do spring cleaning? I have learned the hard way that doing some spring cleaning over the Christmas holidays is also a good way to declutter your home. If you have a week or two off during Christmas, use that time to go through your stuff and get rid of what has been cluttering your house and life. Every year, I do some deep cleaning and clearing of things around me and maybe my list will help you do some Christmas vacation spring cleaning as well:

1. Emails - We all have tons of emails that we let build up all year long until it threatens to crash down on us digitally, so during the first couple of mornings of your Christmas vacation, give yourself an hour and a couple cups of coffee and go through your emails one by one. You can even search by events or people and clean them out that way. If you're not comfortable trashing them, designate new folders so they'll be off your active feed.

2. Christmas decorations - I know you have Christmas decorations that you haven't put out in years. Offer them to family and friends and then donate the ones that are left to a shelter so they can deck their halls.

3. Clothing and toys - Before you go Christmas clothes shopping, take a morning to go through your and your kid's stuff and donate the things that don't get used anymore. This is a great way to show kids that charitable acts are as big a part of Christmas as getting presents from Santa is.
