The San Jose Catholic Church in the Lower Valley has been around for 104 years, but it is being demolished because it is no longer safe to hold Mass in the building. This video was shot Thursday morning as San Jose's bell was removed from it's belfry.

The church had not been maintained properly, and was closed by the Diocese and the City of El Paso last year to determine if it could be saved.

It is not known if another church will be built on that site, or if San Jose parishioners will have to find other parishes to attend. Bishop Seitz spoke about the loss of San Jose and the impact it will have on their faith community, and the faith community of El Paso.

We're very sad for the San Jose faith community. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
