The drive-in movie theater days were long gone in El Paso -- well, at least the non-porn type -- and then coronavirus happened, and now drive-in style movie screenings are a thing again.

The El Paso Sports Commission is the latest to embrace the nostalgic, socially distanced entertainment option with the outdoor cinema series "Christmas Cheer Drive-In Mistletoe Movies" at the El Paso County Coliseum.

The holiday program will roll out a different Christmas movie almost every evening from Dec. 4 through Dec. 19. Each will be shown twice nightly.

Selections run the Yuletide gamut, from family friendly favorites like Elf, The Santa Clause, and The Polar Express to classics such as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to Christmas movies that may or may not be Christmas movies like Die Hard, Gremlins, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Tickets start at $25 per vehicle and are available at universe.com.

CDC and County public health guidelines will be enforced, per the organizer. the event website, you are welcome to bring lawn chairs and sit outside of your car in your designated parking space, but you will need to wear a mask anytime you step outside of your vehicle.
