Christmas Day Crime Spree Gets Two Men Arrested By El Paso Police
El Paso Police arrested two men allegedly involved in a string of Christmas Day aggravated robberies that began with a car-jacking.
34-year-old James Schoolcraft and a second suspect described only bas a 26-year-old male began their crime spree by carjacking a vehicle on the 3800 block of Pershing around 8:15 Christmas Day night.
Schoolcraft and the other suspect took the vehicle at gunpoint and then robbed seven El Paso area convenience stores.
The stolen vehicle, allegedly being driven by the suspects, was spotted speeding by state police officers. The suspects eventually stopped at La Luz and Gateway South around midnight. When the vehicle was initially stopped, police identified four people in the car, but Schoolcraft and the 26-year-old man were identified as the individuals responsible for the robberies.
Police recovered evidence from the robberies and the handgun used in the carjacking. Schoolcraft has been charged with Evading Arrest and three counts of Aggravated Robbery. There are other charges expected.
