Friday morning, Mike and Tricia Mornings got a visit from some creepy crawlies. The lovely folks from the El Paso Zoo came into the studio with bugs, dead and alive, and even some cooked into cookies. It was all part of the Zoo's Bug Fest that's happening this weekend.

Bug Fest is sponsored by Truly Nolen Pest & Termite Control, which is a little crazy when you consider that they're in the business of getting rid of bugs. Bug Fest is this weekend, August 10 & 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bug Fest celebrates all insects that are creepy, crawly, and crunchy! If you and your family head out to the Zoo, you'll get the chance to interact with different bugs from all over the world and to even try some bug delicacies prepared by the Zoo's executive chef.

Mike lost a game of rock, paper, scissors to one of the Zoo folks this morning and had to eat a chocolate chip cookie that was sprinkled with crickets! He said they weren't bad, but they did have a buggy taste. We also had a hissing cockroach that was the size of a basketball (ok, maybe not that big, but it was big as hell).

In addition to the bug displays and chances to get up close and personal with the yucky creatures, there will also there will also be live entertainment, arts and crafts, games, inflatables, and educational lectures from El Paso community partners.
