I'm a brand new, first time cat owner. I know, I know, if you're a Mike and Tricia Mornings listener you know that I used to think that cats were just waiting for their owners to fall too deeply asleep so they could eat their noses. To say I wasn't a cat lover was a giant understatement. But a couple of months ago we rescued a bedraggled little kitty from my sister's car engine.

YOU CAN'T KITTY PROOF YOUR HOUSE
I have to admit, it's been interesting having a little beast roaming my house. He seems to understand boundaries at least while I'm home. He doesn't jump on the kitchen counters or knock over my candles on my altars even though he does stare at the flames. He has only gotten near them once and that little run-in was enough of a deterrent for him to go out of his way ever since. So with Christmas season upon us I had to make a decision.

TO DECORATE OR NOT TO DECORATE
I thought that maybe I might try doing a little decorating, after all, the only thing he has broken is a frame on my piano and again, he hasn't gotten near my pictures ever since. But did I really want to risk my family heirloom, decades old, extremely fragile Christmas ornaments? After doing some research on the interwebs, the answer is no. But I did find some really funny instances of cats vs. Christmas trees.

FESTIVE KITTY, I DON'T THINK SO
This Twitter user says this is a festive story, but this kitty's face says something different

LOOKS LIKE THE END
The caption on this says "And so it begins" but it looks like this cat is about to end this tree

CUTE? UM.....
Yeah, I don't think I'd be saying "Aw, how cute you are kitty" if I came into this scene in my living room
