Back-to-school time is right around the corner and that means getting your kids ready to go back to class. You'll need to buy uniforms, get the items on their school supply list bought, and for one El Paso area school district, you'll need to get a physical exam for your child who participates in extra-curricular activities.

The UIL requires that all students who participate in extra-curricular activities to get physicals. If your child is a cheerleader, a band member, on a sports team, is in the ROTC, or any other extra-curricular activity, they will need to have that physical.

Because so many families might not have the money for or access to a physical for school, Canutillo ISD has teamed up with University Medical Center to offer free physicals.

The physicals will be at the auxiliary gymnasium at Canutillo High School on Monday, July 29, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. There are no appointments for the physicals - students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The student will need to bring their ID with them to get the physical. Parents do not have to be present, but they will need to sign the forms. You can go to the Canutillo website to print off a form that you can sign or your child can bring the form home with them to get signed. Click here for the downloadable form.

If you have any questions about the physicals or forms that are needed, you can call Coach Scott Brooks at 915/877-7873.
