Since its inception, Café Tacvba has had a solid fan base in El Paso, and now Mexico’s leading alternative rock band is on tour and making a stop at the Abraham Chavez Theatre in November.

The band not only has a distinctive sound with a mix of traditional Mexican folk music, punk, ska, and some hip hop, but they also have a frontman, Rubén Isaac Albarrán, whose funky style brings his high energy to the stage.

Café Tacvba originated as a live act with an instant cult following, and the group would end up refining their music through multiple performances before ever stepping inside a studio to record. Finally, in the mid-nineties, the band recorded their first album, Re (1994), which would lead to a life-long career spawning eight albums including - Avalanche de Éxitos (1996), Revés/YoSoy (1999), Cuatro Caminos (2003), Si No’s (2007), El objeto antes llamado disco (2012), JeiBeibi (2017) and Un Segundo MTV Unplugged (2019).

The last time Café Tacvba was in town was in 2019 and the year before that they performed at Neon Desert Music Festival. From El Paso to Europe and beyond, the band has played worldwide, including Coachella, and has performed alongside Beck, David Byrne, and Incubus.
