High school football season is in full swing and that means high school band season is, too. There is nothing more intense than your kid being in band. I know, I know, football is so physical, basketball is so fast-paced, baseball is so baseball-y, but being a band parent? Well, that is some serious commitment.

I have friends whose kids have been in band and they always go in thinking hey, this is going to be great! I get to watch my beastie on the football field marching and playing their instrument, twirling their flags, having a blast every Friday night - this will be so much fun! But in reality, band fun costs money. A lot of money. There are uniforms and instruments to buy, band trips to be taken, competitions to travel to, and all that adds up. Band parents can't do this on their own, and that's where you come in.

I'm a proud Burges alum, Class of 1984, and my best friend is a former flag girl so I know what it takes for these kids to get out on the field. It takes practice and money. No one needs a reason to go to Chick-Fil-A but I have a great one - head out to Chick-Fil-A tomorrow, September 10, and help support the Burges High School Band. Proceeds from tomorrow night's sales will be donated accordingly.

The kids work their butts off. If you could help, it would really be appreciated.
