It’s a very Happy New Year for one El Pasoan who won $1 million, thanks to a lucky Texas Lottery scratch-off ticket.

According to a press release issued by the Texas Lottery, Sergio Gonzalez Salcido of El Paso won the last of the four top prizes worth $1 million to be claimed in the $1,000,000 Golden Riches scratch ticket game.

So what is Sergio Gonzalez Salcido planning on doing with his newfound windfall?

Like many others who have been affected by the pandemic, Gonzalez Salcido plans to pay off his debt and donate to local organizations. Apart from paying off his home, he plans on saving the rest for a rainy day.

Apparently, this isn’t the first time Gonzalez Salcido has won the Texas Lottery, previously winning his share of $500 and $1000 prizes.

The Texas Lottery press release also quotes Sergio Gonzalez Salcido saying that he “…prayed to God to win the lottery and my prayers were answered.”

Congratulations, Mr. Gonzalez Salcido, on being the newest addition to the El Paso Millionaires Club.

Gonzalez Salcido purchased the winning ticket at the Albertsons located at 11320 Montwood Drive in East El Paso.

The $1,000,000 Golden Riches game offers more than $200 million in total prizes. Overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 3.52, including break-even prizes.
