Alamo Drafthouse Hosting Weekend-long Selena Celebration
You know the lines and dance moves now come show them off and celebrate the life and legacy of beloved Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla.
Alamo Drafthouse will be honoring the Queen, who would have turned 47 this April 16, with the 2nd Annual Anything for Selenas Celebration Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15.
"Anything for Selenas," as any card carrying Latino knows, is a reference to one of the most memorable lines from the 1997 movie, Selena.
The highlight of the weekend long commemoration are daily Selena Movie Parties. Every screening of the now-classic movie that made Jennifer Lopez a household name will include sing-a-longs and themed props for attendees to use during the film. Selena music videos and rare interview clips will play prior to each showing.
Other festivities include Selena Karaoke, a what I'm sure will be a sparkly bustier filled look-alike contest, and a Selena mural painted specifically for this event by El Paso artist Jesus “Cimi” Alvarado that will be decorated and available all weekend as a backdrop for fan photos and selfies.
Check out the daily schedule of festivities below. Additional info can be found on the Alamo Drafthouse Facebook page.
