As of tonight, El Paso stands at 74 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 780 confirmed cases.

Two new COVID-19 related deaths have been reported by the City of El Paso. One male in his 70s with underlying health conditions and another male in his 90s, also with underlying health conditions.

Dr. Hector Ocaranza, City/County Health Authority is urging El Pasoans to please follow the rules as businesses begin to open. We can keep the spread to a minimum if we continue to follow the 'Stay Home, Work Safe' order. If you are caught breaking these restrictions, you can face a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500; but additional violations could result in a Class B misdemeanor, which can include a fine up to $1,000 or up to 180 days in jail.

Mayor Margo and El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego are working together to plan out how to safely start reopening El Paso in regards to Texas Governor Greg Abbott's order to begin reopening the state.

The 'Stay Home, Work Safe' order has now been extended till May 17th. Many parks and public areas have been closed in an attempt to keep people from possibly spreading COVID-19.

It is scary how fast the virus can be spread, especially when people are not practicing social distancing. Please take the proper precautions to keep you, your family, friends, and coworkers safe. Ultimately, keep your fellow El Pasoan healthy. Stay strong, stay healthy.
