3 Things to Remember When You’re Heading to the Don Haskins Center
Iron Maiden is coming to El Paso and I am hella excited! Iron Maiden will be bringing their "Legacy of the Beast World Tour" 2022 to the Don Haskins Center on September 11, 2022. Trivium will open up the show.
Tickets go on sale December 10th, but of course you do have some opportunities to score some free tickets courtesy of the Q, so stay tuned for that.
If seeing Iron Maiden in 2022 is in your future, or if you plan on attending any event at the Don Haskins Center, there are some things you're going to want to know. In the past few months I've been to a few events at the Don and, after a year of no events, there are some things I've learned that will probably help you out. Here are three things to keep in mind when you're heading out to the Don.
Clear Bag Policy
The Don Haskins Center has a clear bag policy meaning that bags (including clear backpacks) that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12". Another clear bag that's acceptable? A Ziplock baggie, the one gallon size. Also acceptable is a small clutch bag approximately the size of a hand (4.5" x 6.5" or smaller), with or without a handle or strap.
This one is extra important because the last time I went to an event, many people were super upset that they had to take their significant others' purse back to the car! Don't be that guy who berates the security guys at the door because you don't want to take the purse back to the car (which I have seen!). You can read more about their clear bag policy, and what is also prohibited here.
Traffic Closures
If you've been to a concert at the Don Haskins or the Sun Bowl, then you already know what you're in for; traffic. Rush hour, combined with the amount of people trying to get into the venue parking creates a cluster of cars lined up on Mesa street. Getting out is just as bad. Will there still be closures up and down Mesa on the day of Iron Maiden? Only time will tell! Just in case, have a plan ready to go.
Drinks Policy
This one was weird for me! You can't take drinks OUTSIDE of the Don Haskins Center when you're leaving- not even sodas THAT ARE FULL! How do I know this one? I tried to leave the venue with a full cup of Sierra Mist and was DENIED! Was I upset? Yes! That was like $7! Was I a little rude to the security guy- yes, and I'm sorry! I had to throw away a full cup of Sierra Mist- and I was really thirsty! So, don't try to take a drink outside of the Don.
