Due to the uncertainty the pandemic caused at the time Fourth of July firework displays had to be planned and the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, many of the annual public events and fireworks shows have been cancelled.

But the coronavirus hasn’t stopped all of them.

Saturday night there will be 4 places around town where El Pasoans can watch bombs bursting in air, albeit with some changes in response to COVID-19. Each of the events will be scaled down to fireworks only and their execution altered to conform with health mandates and guidelines. Below is where you can get your red, white and boom on this year – from an appropriate distance, of course.

4th of July Fireworks Spectacular from Biggs Park

Although Pop Goes the Fort has been canceled, there will be a fireworks display on base. Fireworks will be launched from Biggs Park, but Biggs will not be open to the public. They’ll be using high altitude firepower this year to increase visibility from areas around the park and outside the installation.

According to MWR, the fireworks will be shot 100 feet higher than the 500 feet attained last year, which the organization says is about twice as high as the Wells Fargo building downtown. For those that don’t want to venture out yet, the display will be livestreamed on the MWR Facebook page at 9 p.m. (More Info)

Harvest Christian Center No-Crowd Fireworks Show, 1345 New Harvest Pl.

Like the Ft. Bliss firework display, the center’s annual Freedom Festival event has been minimized to fireworks only. The no-crowd display means no one will be allowed to congregate in the church parking lot, either in or outside their car. In-person, properly socially-distanced viewing can be done from Brown Middle School parking lot, along Northwestern, or from the center’s driveway (but not the parking lot).

Scheduled time between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Anyone within a 3-mile radius of Harvest Christian Center will be able to listen to the music that will accompany the fireworks on100.3 FM.

Abundant Living Faith Center East and West Drive-in Fireworks Show

Because of current local restrictions, the display is being done drive-in style. That means you will be viewing it from your car. Parking will be available on-site. If for some reason, someone needs to get out of their car, they will need to social distance and wear some sort of face covering.

Both the east and west side Abundant Living Faith Center will be hosting a firework show at approximately 9 p.m. East side, 1000 Valley Crest Dr; West side, 7100 N Desert Blvd
