12 Yummy Stops The Disney Encanto Family Would Make In El Paso

Encanto continues to enchant fans worldwide, so for fun, I made a list of which El Paso restaurants the members of the Madrigal family would visit based on their personalities and magical gifts.

Disney's latest smash hit, Encanto, continues to win the hearts of children and adults alike thanks to its family bond and a highly infectious soundtrack featuring the hit songs "Orguita" and "We Don't Talk About Bruno."

"Bruno" has even outperformed "A Whole New World" from "Aladdin" by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle, which was the first Disney tune to ever reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 1993.

And it's not done collecting critical acclaim because the animated film just received three Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature, Best Score, and Best Original Song.

Disney's Encanto is a beautiful story about family, love, magic, and community with an underlying message of generational trauma, set in a remote village in Colombia.

The film is so popular that most have seen it over a dozen times, me included, thanks to my niece, who loves to watch it in English and then in Spanish back to back, to get the full bilingual effect.

Immersed in all things Encanto, I thought it'd be fun to make a list of all the restaurants the Madrigal family would hit up while visiting the Sun City.

1 - Mirabel: El Chucoviché Mariscos

Although Mirabel is the only child in her family not blessed with a magical gift, she is a born empath and far from ordinary. I can see Maribel hitting up El Chucoviche, enjoying their impressive seafood towers and tacos for lunch while trying to figure out how to put Casita back together. 

2- Abuela Alma: Bowie Bakery

Alma is the matriarch of the Madrigal family and mother to Pepa, Julieta, and Bruno. Of course, she is all about her community and is super old school, so I could see her hitting up Bowie Bakery in Segundo Barrio. She would enjoy conchas, maranitos, and on occasion, a slice of their Tres Leches cake while comadriando over coffee with her friends.  

3- Julieta: Café Mayapan

Julieta is Maribel's mother, whose gift is the ability to heal through food, so what better place to visit than Café Mayapan. There is no doubt that Julieta would not only enjoy the food at Café Mayapan, but she would probably jump in to help in the kitchen too.

4 - Agustín: Elemi

Agustín is the husband of Julieta and father to Maribel, Isabela, and Luisa. And since he's used to having some pretty sensational food thanks to his wife's gift, we would probably find him at Elemi in downtown El Paso.

5 - Isabela: Magic Bistro

Considered the perfect sister whose magic grows and blooms plants and flowers out of thin air, Isabella would certainly enjoy dinner al fresco during a summer evening at Magic Bistro, where the food and atmosphere are exceptional thanks to its vivid garden. 

6 – Luisa: Cattleman's Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch

Mirabel's other sister Luisa was given the gift of super strength and is the go-to person for all of the heavy lifting in Encanto. If Luisa were in town, she would totally hit up the Cattleman's in Fabens, where she could enjoy a hearty meal followed by a tour of the ranch. 

7 - Pepa: L&J Cafe

Pepa is the quirky yet moody aunt who has the power to control the weather. And while her emotions may get the best of her from time to time, Pepa would probably love L&J Cafe, where she would find a variety of Mexican cuisine. 

8 – Felix: Rafa's Burritos  

Felix is Pepa's husband and father to Antonio, Camilo, and Dolores and is the grounding force to his family. If the Madrigal family were in town, Felix would totally hit up Rafa's Burritos to pick up early morning breakfast burritos for the whole fam bam. 

9 - Antonio: Savage Goods

Antonio is the youngest of the Madrigal family whose gift is to communicate with animals, so you know he is a total vegan and would probably love to eat at Savage Goods in Sunset Heights.

10 - Camilo: El Charlatan

Camilo is Pepa and Félix's middle child, who can shapeshift at will and would love El Charlatan in Socorro. Like Camilo, El Charlatan too shapeshifts between Mexican and Asian cuisines and would enjoy its non-traditional comfort food.

11 - Dolores: El Cometa

Dolores is Mirabel's cousin blessed with supersonic hearing and is usually the first to hear all the chisme in town. With that in mind, Dolores would love the hustle and bustle of El Cometa, where she can listen in to everyone's business while enjoying an order of Juarez-style flautas.

12 - Bruno: Chicos Tacos 

Gifted with the ability to see the future, Bruno is a simple and honest man who would enjoy one of El Paso's most favorite eateries, Chico's Tacos. And since he can see the future, we won't have to remind him to take cash.
