CANCER SUCKS...
I know... it's not a new statement but it's one that's still so true today. Speaking from someone who's had family members diagnosed with cancer before, it's something that no one should go through. It's an awful feeling but there are people are trying to do something about it...
This weekend there will be a special screening of The Exorcist, 7pm, at the Premiere Cinemas in the Bassett Place Theater. The event is set to happen on Sunday the 30th, Halloween Eve, for a brave woman named Melanie Aguilar.
The people in charge of the event are local filmmaker Dakota Thomas (he's worked on several local horror film) & local comedian/friend of Dakota, Anthony Ryan. They've worked on a couple films together, including Bedridden.
Anthony is also Melanie's son.
Melanie was recently diagnosed with terminal metastatic cancer & currently in hospice care. Understandably, the family is going through a rough time processing everything.
So that's why they are holding the special screening of The Exorcist; The screening IS free however donations are encourage to help with covering Melanie's medical bills. Plus there's only about 65 seats for the event so it's ran on a "first come, first serve" basis.
If you CAN'T make it out, there is a GoFundMe page for Melanie that you can donate directly to help right here.
My thoughts are with Anthony, Melanie, the entire Aguilar family & EVERYONE who has ever been affected with cancer...
