School districts have started to announce make-up dates for their 2020 graduation ceremonies postponed due to the coronavirus. Three of the four biggest in the El Paso area, EPISD, SISD and Canutillo ISD, will be conducting theirs in late June and July.

While Ysleta Independent School District has not set a date, Superintendent Xavier De La Torre said via a video message posted Monday, April 27 on the YISD Facebook account the district was planning a traditional commencement exercise but would celebrate the senior class with a virtual graduation first.

"We continue to plan and design both a virtual commencement exercise for the Class of 2020 as well as a traditional exercise," he said. "As it stands now, we will likely have a virtual graduation in early June and then follow up with an opportunity for the Class of 2020 to participate in a traditional commencement exercise at each of their respective high schools and early college high schools."

He did not reveal specific dates or details. A comment left by their social media administrator said they would release the dates by the end of this week. This article will be updated once that information is disclosed.
