El Pasoan Valerie Ponzio Loses Battle Round, Eliminated on ‘The Voice’
El Paso's budding country music star Valerie Ponzio didn’t survive the battle rounds on the NBC singing competition The Voice.
Valerie was eliminated on Monday night (March 27) losing to fellow Blake Sheldon team member Enid Ortiz, a 25 year-old reggae-rock band singer from Tampa, Florida.
An even bigger bummer was that Val’s vocal duel was not aired. Instead, her performance was part of a montage so all viewers got to see was a few seconds of her battle.
Although a “steal” would have kept her on the show, none of the other coaches added Val to their team.
So happy for this beautiful girl @enidortizmusic Go Knock it out like you do girl! 💛 You girl! pic.twitter.com/xSuQisoom0

After the show aired, the Andress High School graduate expressed her gratitude on Twitter, and praised her battle round partner, urging Enid to “knock it out” in the next round.
Thank you #ElPaso you made this #Mexican girl feel all the love and beyond! So happy I got to represent you on @NBCTheVoice 💛💛 — Valerie Ponzio (@valerieponzio) March 28, 2017
