Texan and Former “The Voice” Winner Accidentally Shoots Himself
Life in Tyler, Texas can be full of surprises, but for singer Sundance Head, one surprise turned out to be a literal gut punch—courtesy of his own gun.
While enjoying a hunting trip at his East Texas ranch, Sundance Head, winner of The Voice Season 11, found himself in a mishap that would make even the most seasoned outdoorsman cringe. According to his agent, Trey Newman, the country crooner was reaching into his vehicle for his trusty .22 caliber pistol when the weapon decided it had other plans. Falling from its holster, the pistol landed on the vehicle’s exterior, firing a shot that hit Head right in the stomach.
Now, if you’re wondering how many bad luck charms it takes for a gun to land and fire at just the wrong angle, the answer is apparently one Texas hunting trip.
In true country-star resilience, Sundance was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, where he avoided major surgery thanks to his incredible luck (or perhaps just his experience surviving American Idol eliminations). Doctors confirmed no vital organs were hit, and Sundance was discharged the same day.
The good news? Head will be back on stage soon for his scheduled performances in Texas and Illinois. The better news? He’s already got a killer story for his next concert.
From The Voice to dodging bullets—literally—it’s safe to say Sundance Head knows how to keep life interesting. Just remember: holsters are there for a reason, folks. Stay safe out there!
