First the good news; the Go 10 project in west El Paso is weeks away from nearing its end.

I'll wait a few seconds while you throw your hands up in the air in a celebratory 'yasss!'.

Okay, now the bad news. Before TxDot crews can get out of your way, they are going to have to close a portion of I-10 for 27-hour periods every Sunday in June beginning this Sunday, June 2. That’s five (5) straight Sundays, including Father’s Day.

The closures are needed so crews can move a combined 40,000 feet of barrier walls, and put lanes in their final design.

The end result, however, is that roadway work will be complete at the end of June -- on time and on budget, per TxDot. After June, work will continue off the roadways for another two months as crews clean up and complete miscellaneous projects.

Until then you know the drill: Leave earlier than usual, find an alternate route, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada.
