El Paso is known for a lot of things, and apparently being petty is one of them! Well, that’s according to a survey.

Casino.Ca decided to survey 3,000 Americans, and the results are both amusing and revealing—especially for us Texans.

According to the survey, Texas ranks among the top three pettiest states in the nation, with a staggering 94% of respondents admitting to being petty.

This Lone Star State's penchant for pettiness comes mainly from romantic relationships, which top the list as the primary cause. It’s followed by social media spats, driving disputes, friendship feuds, and workplace fights that follow closely behind.

The survey also showed that Texans rated themselves a 6 out of 10 on the pettiness scale, suggesting a self-awareness about their inclination towards minor acts of revenge and grudge-holding.

The first step is admitting you have a problem… I guess.

Nationally, 84% of Americans admit to being petty, with Alabama (96%) leading the charge. Meanwhile, the District of Columbia (67%) and Vermont (68%) are at the other end of the spectrum, showing lower levels of pettiness.

The top petty triggers across the U.S. include:

  • Romantic relationships (22%)
  • Driving (18%)
  • Workplace issues (16%)

From relationship tiffs to road rage, Texans—and Americans as a whole—are no strangers to petty actions.

So, next time you encounter a minor slight, remember, that you’re not alone in your petty inclinations. After all, a little pettiness can add some spice to life, especially in Texas.
