Who Is Master Phillip Redmond

Sifu Redmond began his martial arts journey after serving in Vietnam, studying Shorin-Ryu karate in Okinawa. After his Marine Corps service, he moved to New York City in 1970, where he trained in Fu Jow Pai and Wing Chun under several esteemed instructors.

In 1983, he committed to Grandmaster Cheung's Wing Chun, becoming a sifu in 1991 and earning a provisional Master rank in 1994.

Master Redmond's dedication to martial arts extends beyond Wing Chun. He has trained in various disciplines, earning a black belt in Aiki-Jujitsu and Kobudo. He won his first full contact bout under the guidance of kickboxing champion Yoel Judah. In 1989, he founded the Yale University Wing Chun Kung Fu Club, where he taught until 1994.
