This Cat Got Tattooed in a Juárez Prison and Now I Want to Give it a Furever Home
By now, I feel like I've officially become the crazy cat lady on the Morning Show- and I think most of El Paso knows it too!
I can't tell you how many people sent me this story over the weekend telling me that I needed to adopt this cat. First of, all, thank you to everyone who thought of me when they heard this story! But a quick recap first.
In case you missed it, authorities in Juárez recovered nine pets after a raid at the state prison Cereso No. 3. Yes, that's the same prison where a riot broke out last month. One of the pets that was seized was a hairless Sphynx cat that they found with a tattoo!
The tattoo is a symbol used by “Los Mexicles” prison gang that says "Hecho en Mexico" which just translates to "Made in Mexico".
Authorities believe that El Neto, leader of the Mexicles, was the owner of the cat (who has yet to be named!) El Neto was killed in a shootout last month by state police.
It didn't take long for the news to spread; soon it was being reported on our side of the Border.
The local authorities said the cat was in good health and was turned over to a local animal shelter. Soon after, so many of you sent me the story with the words "Joanna, adopt this cat!"
Trust me, I definitely would LOVE to adopt this cat! Despite how much I think it is cruel that this cat was TATTOOED, just judging by how well behaved it was when authorities filmed it, and the fact that it is good health, shows me that this cat was well taken care of.
I must find this cat! Although, my mom has already said that she doesn't want this cat to be around my house cats because it was in a gang. This cat deserves freedom, and lots of treats! If you know where I can find this cat, please contact me ASAP!
