Sun Metro Updates Social Distancing Efforts With New Safeguards
El Paso’s Sun Metro is immediately implementing new safeguards to ensure the safety of its passengers and employees.
Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, Sun Metro has set in motion its new Seat Closed rule – effective immediately.
Passengers will continue to board the bus from the rear doors and will now see Seat Closed signs on every other seat to help follow health official's more aggressive social distancing protocol of one seated passenger per row. Sun Metro will also have stand-by buses available to assist with transporting passengers on high traffic routes.
Sun Metro continues to waive fares during the COVID-19 health crisis to limit exposure amongst passengers and drivers. Passengers are reminded that they should ride only for essential activities such as picking up medications, healthcare-related, to get groceries or for work if they are an essential worker.
Public health officials continue to urge the public to stay home per the CDC and to follow these simple steps:
- Stay home if you are feeling sick
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Cover your cough or sneeze into your elbow
