September El Paso Streetcar Events: Downtown and Uptown on the Trolley
It looks like the city has found a way to get people to want to ride the trolley.
A combination of free rides and one-of-a-kind programming on Streetcar 1511 has piqued interest and has people jumping onboard.
It’s no secret the streetcar's return attracted a much lower ridership than city council and Sun Metro officials envisioned. After it was rolled out to much fanfare during Winterfest in 2018, ridership quickly declined.
Often times trolleys ran empty or with just a handful of riders during the week, but people weren’t exactly clamoring for a slow ride on weekends, either.
But free rides and various monthly programming on Streetcar 1511 has people hopping aboard the El Paso Streetcar. In September you can ride the rails and learn about historical locations, listen to and discover local musicians, and celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
