El Pasoans with water-loving canines won't have to leave them behind when seeking relief from triple-digit temperatures anymore.

The Pavo Real Enhanced Spray Park, El Paso's first spray park for dogs is now open in the lower valley at 9301 Alameda.

The city's newest spray park is actually two spray pads; one for humans, and another specifically designed for their furry friends to splash around in.

The fenced in dog area has several water features, including one that looks like a fire hydrant. Next door is a 4,500-square-foot spray park with 25 water features for people, such as a large dump bucket, two large slides, water cannons, hanging spouts, and fountains that spurt water up from the ground. Trees, shade canopies, and picnic tables and benches will line the area.

And don't worry about the kids getting any kind of dog cooties; separate water filtration systems keep water from the two splash pads from mixing.
