Water Parks, Outdoor Pools & Splash Parks: Where to Beat the El Paso Heat

Break out the swimsuits and sunblock.

There is no need to sweat the sweltering afternoon heat when there are plenty of places all over the city and surrounding areas for water fun in the hot El Paso sun.

Just pick a pool, pad, or water park pack up some eats and sunscreen, and get to splashing.

City of El Paso Spray Parks and Splash Pads

City spray parks are a destination place for family picnics and outings.

In addition to numerous water features, all city spray parks have a shaded area and picnic tables -- and best of all, they're all free to use.

San Jacinto Plaza & El Paso Zoo Splash Pad

The splash pads at both the historic downtown park and the zoo also offer a respite from the heat, but on a smaller, less tricked out level. No water buckets and fountains at either, just cooling water jets shooting randomly out of the ground.

The San Jacinto pad follows the same operating procedures as the city-run splash parks, while operating hours for the pad at the zoo matches zoo days and hours.

City & County Outdoor Pools

The Pavo Real Outdoor Aquatic Facility at 110 Presa in the Lower Valley is the only city outdoor pool currently open. Hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Two of the three county pools are now open daily; the Olympic size outdoor pool at Ascarate Park, and Veterans Park Pool in Fabens.

The Ascarate facility also has a small pool for children, slides for kids and adults, and an enclosed picnic area with shaded BBQ grills.

The pool in Fabens features a water slide, diving board, and a shaded pool deck. Days, hours, admission prices and additional details can be found HERE.

Wet ‘N Wild Waterworld

The 60-acre water park just outside El Paso in Anthony has more than 25 rides and attractions, including the largest wave pool in Texas, and a six-story high South American jungle-themed attraction featuring the area’s first 4-person family raft ride.

El Paso Water Parks

All four of the City of El Paso's regional water parks, Camp Cohen, Chapoteo, Lost Kingdom, and Oasis are open daily.

While they all have the same basic water features, such as water slides, lazy river current channels and kiddie playgrounds, each has one signature feature, as well.
