You Might Be Surprised By Who Gets Hated On The Most In Texas
Hate crime rates are slightly down in Texas but still way too high. The group that draws the most hatred you can probably guess but the second may surprise you.
Across the United States of America, reported hate crimes are rising but here in Texas, they've fallen a little bit. Great for Texas but even one hate crime is too many.
The FBI recently modified their latest stats on hate crimes across the country.
What Is A Hate Crime?
According to the latest report:
For the purpose of the report, a hate crime is defined as a criminal offense that is motivated, in whole or in part, by the offender’s bias(es) against a person based on race, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, and gender identity. - justice.com
Who Draws The Most Hate Crimes?
Not surprisingly, race riles haters up the most. The majority of racial hate crimes reported were directed at black Americans but every race is victimized.
The 2nd most targeted group surprised me. I would have guessed religious faiths but it's actually sexual orientation. Who you decide to share your life with ranks you higher on a "hate list" than things that have been hated on, (seemingly), since time began.
After thousands of years of religiously motivated wars, hatred and prejudice; today the odds of being targeted are worse for homosexuals than "infidels".
What Ethnicity Commits The Fewest Hate Crimes?
A plus for Hispanics, this group seems to commit the fewest hate based crimes. You can read the overall breakdown for hate crimes in Texas here.
