This week's Military Monday's recipient is SFC. Curtis Williams, nominated by his wife, Leticia.  Leticia and Curtis have been married for a little over a year, and have known each other for three.

Curtis came to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago when he was 23 years old, and has been in the Army for 19 years.  He currently works at Fort Bliss at the Brigade Moderinzation Command.

Leticia is very proud of her husband, and rightfully so!  This is what wrote to us about Curtis:

"SFC Curtis F. Williams was awarded the Bronze Star Service Medal when he served with the 44 ENG BN and 2ID (Korea) during OIF August 2004-2005 at Camp Ar Ramadi Iraq.

SFC Williams served as the Battalion Operations Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant with A Co, 44 ENG BN in charge of an Engineer Platoon in support of Multi-National Corps-Iraq, enabling safe passage to units along a 6-mile route on the Saddam Hussein Highway, or main supply route.

SFC Williams’ superior technical expertise resulted in the capture of the 6-mile route under fire from numerous IED attacks. Every soldier in his PLT returned alive from this intense battle against the insurgents. The main focus was IED defeat against the enemy and cache reduction to protect the 6-mile route.

SFC Williams and his team of outpost soldiers were attacked by rockets, IED, vehicle borne explosive device (VIBED), Human Borne Explosive device (HBED), machine gun and small arm fire to name a few."

When he's not fighting to keep our country safe, Curtis is kicking ass on the soccer field with the Fort Bliss Men's Soccer Team!

The team was invited to the Defender's Cup Soccer Tournament in San Antonio earlier this month, and won second place!  The tournament is the most prestigious soccer tournament in the United States for Military teams and has a World Cup feel.  The team was trying to be the first Fort Bliss soccer team to bring the trophy to Fort Bliss.  Congrats Fort Bliss Men's Soccer Team!

Thank you so much to SFC. Curtis Williams and his wife Leticia for their service to our country!   A big KISS kiss goes out to them, and, of course, all our troops who keep us safe!
