The El Paso International Music Foundation invites all El Pasoans to join the global Jingle Bells performance on Make Music Day Winter, December 21, 2020.

Make Music Day Winter invites us all to celebrate the winter solstice by spreading some holiday cheer with music.

No matter your background or skill level, everyone young and old are invited to sing, play an instrument, dance, or hum along to the classic holiday tune, Jingle Bells.

On Monday, December 21 at 5:30 p.m., step out onto your porch, patio, balcony, or backyard, and join the worldwide celebration of the winter solstice by sharing your musical performance, tag El Paso International Music Foundation (EPIMF) and hashtag #MakeMusicElPaso. EPIMF will share them on its Make Music El Paso Facebook page (facebook.com/MakeMusicElPaso/).

To help spread the holiday cheer, El Paso International Music Foundation is giving out free jingle bells on a first-come, first-served basis. To request a pair, direct message EPIMF on its Facebook or Instagram pages.

Before the outdoor community performances, El Paso International Music Foundation will post performances by students and professional artists on its Facebook page at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Performers include El Paso High, Wiggs Middle, and Lamar Elementary school choirs, plus Bella Duke, Michael and Santiago Portillo, and Jason McInnes’ harmonica class.

Plus, how-to videos will be posted on egg shaker making, marimba bowl making, and how to use available bells. Jingle Bells music sheets will also be posted available for download for various instruments.

While 2020 has canceled all our traditional plans, we can have some fun and get into the holiday spirit by participating in this free city-wide performance event celebrating music and the winter solstice on Make Music Day Winter this year.
