Longtime El Paso Store Charlotte’s Furniture Is Going To Close
Iconic west El Paso furniture store, Charlotte’s, announced that it is going to be closing.
Charlotte's first opened its doors in 1951 and became the go to place for high-end furniture, flooring, and gifts. The store first opened in Central El Paso and moved a few more times before it finally settled at Peppertree Square on N. Mesa.
Owners Melissa and Charlotte O'Rourke are the mother and sister of El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke. Melissa was married to the late El Paso County Judge Pat O'Rourke.
Charlotte's sent out this letter to their clients to announce their retirement sale:
Dear Friends —
For 66 years, it has been our family’s pleasure to serve your family. However, later this year, Charlotte’s Furniture will close its doors for the final time.
What began as a small furniture shop in Central El Paso has blossomed into one of the finest lifestyle boutiques in the Southwest. Without you, that simply would not have been possible.
While we are proud of our success and thankful for your devoted support, the time has come for other pursuits. We are eager to visit with many of you in the coming months as we prepare to turn the page to the next chapter of our lives.
We are grateful for your friendship, your patronage, and the trust you have placed in us.
With sincere gratitude,
Melissa O’Rourke and Charlotte O’Rourke
