Kris Kross Member Chris Kelly Dead at 34
Rapper Chris Kelly, known as 'Mac Daddy' and one-half of the pop-rap duo Kris Kross, was found dead in Atlanta today (May 1) at the age of 34.
Kelly was found unresponsive at his home and then transported to the Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to The Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The cause of death is not known at press time but officials have planned an autopsy for Thursday, so more information should be forthcoming in the next few days regarding Kelly's passing.
Kelly and Chris Smith (known as 'Daddy Mac') comprised Kris Kross, who were known for wearing their clothes backwards and for their massive hit 'Jump.' The song, emblematic of '90s mainstream crossover hip-hop, appeared on their debut 'Totally Krossed Out,' which went platinum several times over.
The duo had reunited earlier this year to play the So So Def 20th anniversary party.
Interestingly enough, Kris Kross, who were discovered in a mall in 1990, were bros with the ladies in TLC, who sadly lost member Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes to a car accident on April 25, 2002.
UPDATE: According to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for the the Fulton County Police, "It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose."
