Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Are Engaged!
It's official! Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are engaged.
The couple announced their engagement on Instagram in the early morning of Feb. 15, sharing a photo of Perry's stunning flower engagement ring. She captioned the image "full bloom" and he wrote "Lifetimes" alongside his.
Perry's mom, Mary Hudson, was the first to confirm her daughter and Bloom were engaged after spilling the bean via Facebook. "Look who got engaged on Valentine's Day!" she wrote alongside several photos from the couple's engagement party. Apparently, the actor popped the question under an arch of roses, and the two then celebrated with friends and family, including Rihanna who shared this photo with a red balloon on Instagram.
It's unclear when or where Perry and Bloom will wed, but their friend Kate Hudson suggested they have a destination wedding in the comments section of the "Roar" singer's pic.
Their engagement comes just weeks after Perry told PAPER magazine that getting married was not something she wanted to do again. "I'm very pragmatic and logistical and I am less fantastical about things," she said. "I mean, I was married when I was 25. I'm 34. It was almost 10 years ago. I was like, 'One person for the rest of my life,' and I'm not so sure that that idea is for me.' I'm just such a different person than I was."
It turns out, Bloom is the right person for her after all. The two started dating back in 2016 after meeting (and flirting up a storm) at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. They have been in an on-again, off-again relationship since, splitting in February 2017 and resuming their relationship in April the following year.
Both Perry and Bloom were previously married. The pop star became engaged to actor and comedian Russell Brand in 2009, just months after meeting him while filming a cameo in his film Get Him to the Greek. They wed on October 23, 2010 and were divorced in 2012.
Bloom was previously married to supermodel Miranda Kerr between the summer of 2010 and winter of 2013. They share a son, Flynn, together.
