Listeria Alert: A Nationwide Recall Has Been Issued For these Fruits
Another recall has been released on fruit.
The HMC Group Marketing Inc, known as HMC Farms has issued a voluntary recall on peaches, plums, and nectarines. These fruits were sold in retail stores nationwide between May 1st and November 15, 2022, as well as May 1st and November 15th, 2023.
The product has been recalled because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
What is Listeria?
According to the Centers for Disease Control Listeria is:
<p>Listeriosis is a serious infection caused by the germ Listeria monocytogenes. People usually become ill with listeriosis after eating contaminated food. The disease primarily affects pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. It’s rare for people in other groups to get sick with Listeria infection.</p><p>Listeriosis is usually a mild illness for pregnant women, but it causes severe disease in the fetus or newborn baby. Some people with Listeria infections, most commonly adults 65 years and older and people with weakened immune systems, develop severe infections of the bloodstream (causing sepsis) or brain (causing meningitis or encephalitis). Listeria infections can sometimes affect other parts of the body, including bones, joints, and sites in the chest and abdomen.</p>
The fruit was sold individually and in consumer packaging.

The recall does not pertain to organic fruit only conventionally grown fruit.
Please Note: Peaches, plums, and nectarines currently for sale at retail stores are not included in this recall.
The recalled fruit is no longer available for purchase. The recalled fruit may still be located in consumer homes. This fruit could have possibly been frozen for later use.
Check your freezer and if found do not eat and throw away.
