New Turf Going Down at Amarillo’s Rockrose Sports Complex

As the youth sports scene continues to grow minute by minute in Amarillo, we find ourselves in serious need of places to play. It doesn't matter the sport, it seems we're out of places to play them.

We recently had a baseball tournament that had to be canceled, and one of the reasons is because we lacked enough fields to be able to execute it. So adding some fields is something we're all looking forward to.

Rockrose Sports Complex Takes Another Step

About a month ago, we got word that Rockrose Sports Complex was coming along faster than planned, and they had moved up the completion date. This is something that is good news for ALL sports in Amarillo. It means more tournaments, more games, and a state-of-the-art facility for kids and families alike.

If you've driven by it recently, you've seen how it's taking shape. The baseball fields are undeniably seen, but you can see the layout of what the complex is going to look like. Let's call it the skeleton, and it's definitely got some structure. Now, one more step is adding some color to the project.

Turf Being Laid For Baseball & Softball Fields

A recent Facebook post from SCG Fields has given us something to get really excited about, especially us baseball parents and players. The turf is being laid, and it looks truly amazing.

So beautiful. How bright the green is, the dark brown color of the dirt. Absolutely amazing to think that Amarillo will have a full turf facility for the baseball and softball teams to use anytime.

This photo gives us a closer look at how it looks. I love the two-toned color of the grass. It gives off that MLB field vibe because of the way they cut it. I can't tell you how excited I am for the facility to open and for at least one of my boys to get the chance to play on it.
