Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Will Add 'Splash Island' To Waterpark

Summer 2024 is quickly coming to an end. The majority of waterparks around the area will be closing once Labor Day passes and East Texans will have to wait until things heat up again in 2025 to enjoy a refreshing day at the waterpark.

When things heat up around East Texas there's nothing like going to a waterpark to escape the blistering summer Texas heat. There's just something about riding the waves in the wave pool or grabbing a tube and floating in the lazy river. Then there are the slides, whether it's a body slide or a tube slide flinging you around as you go through the corkscrew to splash down into the wading pool at the end. Waterparks provide endless fun for us all.

One park in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex has been entertaining families, including myself, for more than 40 years. When Six Flags Hurricane Harbor opens for the 2025 season there will be a new attraction for their younger guests.

Splash Island will debut in 2025

This new attraction will be the park's largest investment in its 42-year history. Splash Island will be a multi-level water play structure for those guests 42" and under as well as a rest area for parents.

Splash Island will feature:

110 different water features
Texas sized 1000 gallon tipping bucket
6 mini water slides and splashers for the youngest guests
7 colorful body water slides for young kids
a splash pad with 24 water features
family cabanas
fresh dining options

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor will close for the 2024 season on Sunday, September 8th and soon thereafter construction should begin on the addition to the park just in time for the opening of the 2025 season.
