3 of America’s Worst Pizza Chains Are in Arizona
The 3 Worst Pizza Chains Arizona: A Slice of Disappointment
When I was a kid, my dad would seek out the best local pizza place in the area. We had a few standards we refused to compromise on.
When we went looking for the perfect pie, Dad insisted our pizza have three things to be considered good:
- A hand-tossed crust that wasn't too thick or too thin
- As many toppings as each slice could carry
- A good sauce-to-cheese ratio
Garibaldis Eatery in Arlington Heights, Illinois, was our go-to place. I recently learned the restaurant is still in business. I'm sure a few things have changed over the years, but they have a solid fan base, so I'm sure they've stayed consistently good.

Arizona's Worst Pizza Chains
Pizza as good as Garibaldi's is rare, especially when most of us rely on the large, national chains. Arizona has its favorites for pizza, but not all national pizza chains hit the mark when it comes to quality and value.
Taking a deep dive into the recent consumer reports and reviews from a variety of sources like Mashed and Cheapism, I found the same three brands mentioned as least favorites with consumers.
The Three Worst Pizza Chains in Arizona
#3: Papa John's Pizza
Papa John's Pizza has a loyal following, but lately, it's been criticized for its doughy crust and uneven toppings. Most pizza lovers prefer fresher ingredients, but Papa John's has struggled to deliver even this basic request.
#2: Pizza Hut
I think nostalgia keeps this chain in business. Remember how you could earn a free personal pan pizza by reading books? Do you recall family dinners with all-you-could-eat pizza and salad bars?
These little perks are now a thing of the past. As these perks dropped off and the business began to shift focus, there was a noticeable shift in quality. A recent survey revealed that customers complain about the chain's inconsistent taste and service and are especially annoyed with delivery options.
This may be a case where you get what you pay for.
Little Caesars is known for its cheap “Hot-N-Ready” deals. Quality is bound to suffer if you prioritize cheap and fast as selling points. A lot of pizza aficionados don't feel the quality of this brand matches the convenience.
Customer feedback points to soggy crusts and skimpy toppings, awarding Little Caesar's with the auspicious title of worst pizza on our list.
I think Dad was on the right track: find a good, local pizza place and support the quality of a pie made with love and pride, and you won't go wrong!
