Arizonans are Told to Immediately Throw Away Possible Deadly Cheese
Food recalls are something we have seen time and time again in the mass production era of food sales.
Whether it be contamination, manufacturing issues, or any other mistake made, some food hits the shelf as a danger to your health.
A deadly contamination has made its way into certain cheeses in Arizona that you need to be wary of.
What Cheese is Contaminated?
Newsweek recently reported that a contamination of Salmonella has reached certain Cream Cheese products that are being sold in Arizona. Arizona is one of several states affected by the spread (get it?) and only one of two in the southwest United States.
The products affected are:
- Whipped Cream Cheese Spread, with UPC 4099100101881
- Chive & Onion Cream Cheese Spread, with UPC 4099100101751
- Cream Cheese Spread, with UPC 4099100101737
- Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread, with UPC 4099100101744
These products should be avoided at all costs, and should be thrown out immediately if found in your home. No illness has been reported yet in correlation with the contamination, but consumers should still be cautious.
What is Salmonella?
Salmonella is a bacterial disease that attacks your intestines, and is the most common form of food poisoning in the United States. While some who contract the disease have no symptoms, the most common are diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach cramps.
The disease is mostly contracted by eating undercooked food, but it can also be spread in contaminated water. Luckily, those who have contracted Salmonella will usually recover within a few days with no specific medication, so if you find yourself with Salmonella poisoning, you'll j have to wait it out.
