If you love Mazapan and eggnog, then you’re going to love this easy fizzy recipe.

Mazapan flavored coffees and drinks have been cultivating a following over the last few years in El Paso.

Agua de Mazapan and Mazapan lattes have become a regular on menus at places like the Coffee Box in downtown El Paso or Global Coffee Roasters off Zaragosa.

Being a fan of eggnog myself, I decided to create my own Mazapan Eggnog recipe after not finding many flavors other than classic, pumpkin, or vanilla.

The Holiday Hooligan is what I like to call my personal eggnog recipe, which has a fizzy twist to it with the addition of club soda inspired by an old-fashioned egg cream.

Holiday Hooligan Mazapan Eggnog Recipe: Serves 10 – 12

  • 2 ounces of Vanilla syrup
  • 1 - 750 ml bottle of your favorite pre-mixed eggnog with bourbon
  • 4 ounces of Rum
  • 1 quart of non-alcoholic eggnog
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • 12 De la Rosa Mazapan discs
  • Cinnamon
  • Candy canes for garnish

Set an ice bucket on the side along with a bottle or cans of club soda.

In a large pitcher or punch bowl, pour in a full liter of non-alcoholic eggnog, followed by 2 ounces of vanilla syrup and one 750 ml bottle of pre-mixed bourbon eggnog.

Finely crumble 10 De la Rosa Mazapan discs and add to the eggnog mixture.

Add up to 4 ounces of rum, less if you don't want it too spiked since the premixed eggnog already contains bourbon.

With the remaining Mazapan crumbles, rim your glass.

Fill the glass with ice all the way to the top and ladle in about a cup of the prepared eggnog and leave about 1.5 inches from the top to add club soda and garnish with a candy cane and a sprinkle of cinnamon and then sip to enjoy to your heart's content.

(Do not consume if you have a peanut allergy; Mazapan is made with peanuts.)
