Instagram Reinstates El Paso’s Favorite “News Station” FitFam
Well, that didn’t take long. After a brief but emotionally devastating disappearance, the main FitFam El Paso Instagram account with its 600,000+ loyal, nosy, chaos-loving followers, has officially been reinstated by Meta as of June 25th.
For roughly a week, El Paso was left in digital darkness. No fight videos. No taco truck tips. No grainy footage of someone trying to ride a cow through a Whataburger drive-thru. Just… silence. The city had to do the unthinkable: check the news like it’s 1999. It was horrifying.
FitFam El Paso's Main Page Returns After Instagram Ban
If you listen closely, you can still hear the collective sigh of relief echoing down Mesa Street. FitFam’s backup page (@realfitfamelpaso) did a solid job holding the line. Shoutout to the nearly 100,000 followers who jumped ship like it was the Titanic. But let’s be real: the original account hits different. Like menudo after a night out or a Booty Bootcamp fail clip.
Now, the big page is back and already picking up where it left off, posting fight compilations, animal rescue alerts, and the occasional reminder that your ex is still wilding out in the comments section.
Instagram Still Hasn’t Explained Why FitFam Got Banned
Why did Instagram take it down in the first place? Who knows. Even FitFam’s team wasn’t told what rule they allegedly broke. But considering this is the fourth time the account has been removed, it’s safe to say the algorithm either hates El Paso or just can’t handle that much transparency.
Either way, the city’s favorite non-news news outlet is back. And if we know anything about FitFam, it will probably get banned again by mid-July.
Until then, enjoy the content. Stay safe. And if you see a guy in a luchador mask fighting a goose outside Circle K, record it. El Paso needs to know.
Reddit Users Slam FitFam’s Comment Section for Toxicity
Over on the El Paso subreddit, some users were thrilled to see the account vanish. According to them, the real problem isn’t the content, it’s the comment section. For years, the comments have been a dumping ground for racism, homophobia, and just outright nastiness. If you ever wanted to see people hate their own city in real time, the replies under a FitFam post are the place to do it.
Interestingly, the page’s co-owner jumped into the subreddit to respond. He acknowledged the criticism, said he hears the concerns, and claimed that the page is continuing to evolve and mature. He even admitted the early years were more chaotic and that moderation is something they’re starting to take seriously.
Several users didn’t hold back. They told him directly that if FitFam wants to be taken seriously as a media platform, it has to clean up the digital barfight that is its comment section. Whether those changes actually stick remains to be seen. But for now, the account is back, the videos are flowing, and the comment section is...well its the internet, the comment section hasn't changed.
The post has since been removed for some reason, so the comments about committing to a change from FitFams owner are just a memory now. Surely though, even with the outspoken few who don't like the comment section, there are some other voices who would argue that the internet is made for fighting.
