Imagination Comes to Life as Willy Wonka Takes Over a Texas Bar
When looking around at bars, we want to see something unique: We've seen some bars that are heavily inspired by movies like The Mad Hatter in El Paso (which is heavily inspired by Alice in Wonderland) or based entirely around a unique concept like anime. And if you're a fan of Willy Wonka, I'm sure you've had dreams of going to a place like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory; a place where it seems like there's an endless supply of chocolate & sweet to our hearts content.
Well this place might not be a chocolate factory, but the Porta Rossa bar in San Antonio that you can tell the owners were heavily inspired by the Willy Wonka movie when creating this place. If you look around the San Antonio Museum of Art, you can find Porta Rossa at 1221 Broadway.
This place is nice & all... but do they have the Golden tickets?
Well if they wanted to be a true Willy Wonka then they'd have to. And sure enough, yes they do. (And desserts too)
But instead of finding 4 golden tickets, there's actually way more than that & you can find around Porta Rossa.
Will you find the Oompa Loompas there too?
I'm not quite sure if you'll find the Oompa Loompas inside; but perhaps if you go one, you might find the little orange men. They DO however offer food as well, thanks to the local food truck on sight. You'll find plenty of Mexican food served there. Although personally I'm not a fan of the seafood or clam dishes (or most seafood in general). But if you like them, they do have them.
Perhaps El Paso will see its own Willy Wonka bar open up in the future. But until then, at least there is one that's in the same state as us.
